Swish Baseball updates

Every update to Swish Baseball, newest first. Now on v0.8.0, updated Oct 21, 2026.

October 2026

v0.8.0

A short ad after each match on YouTube

  • On the YouTube version, one short ad plays after the final result of each match, extra innings included.
  • It never interrupts an at-bat, a pause or the settings screen, and comes at most once every 8 minutes of play.
  • Playing here on shiccup.com stays ad-free.
v0.7.1

A timing ring you can trust

  • The timing ring is amber while you are early and turns green when it is time to swing. A tap as it closes now lands on time, so far fewer perfect swings go foul.
  • Nobody walks in front of the camera while you bat, and the camera comes straight back to the plate between batters.
  • Foul balls say so, and the results screen tells you who won, with both team names on the score.
  • On a phone held upright, the pitching view zooms in so the strike zone is easier to aim at.
v0.7.0

Bigger strike zone and a clearer swing

  • The strike zone is bigger, and the camera zooms in when you bat. In portrait the zone sits left of the middle, with the batter on the right so he fits on screen.
  • A green ring shows where the ball is going. Swing as the green ring reaches the white rings.
  • A word tells you how each swing went: PERFECT, GOOD, EARLY, LATE, or the miss (TOO HIGH, TOO LOW, MISSED).
  • POWER is its own button. It swings harder, with a smaller sweet spot.
v0.6.0

Real ash bat cracks, mitt pops and ballpark organ

  • All 12 ballpark sounds now play from a studio sample bank: ash bat cracks, foul ticks, leather catcher mitt pops, dirt bounces, bases-loaded organ fanfare and home-run fireworks.
  • Settings → Audio now includes a Classic audio switch if you prefer the original synth sounds.
v0.5.10

A real pause

  • Pausing now freezes the whole picture until you come back.
v0.5.9

Swing through it

  • The bat now meets the ball: a low pitch drops the bat to it, a high pitch keeps it up, and on a hit the sweet spot touches the ball.
  • Tap SWING for a quick swing, or hold it through the pitch for a power swing. Holding longer no longer loses the swing.
  • A power swing no longer makes the ball jump as it's hit.
v0.5.7

Real players, real baseball

  • Players move like real ballplayers: a full windup with a leg kick, a batting stance with the bat up, a catcher squatting behind the plate, diving catches, slides and celebrations.
  • Everybody plays at once: on every hit, fielders cover the bases, back each other up and line up relays, and runners take leads and tag up on fly balls.
  • Time between pitches: the catcher throws the ball back and the batter resets before the next pitch.
  • Always know your job: a YOU'RE BATTING or YOU'RE PITCHING banner at every switch, and a role label on the scoreboard with the count, outs and bases.
  • New buttons in the Swish layout: pick a pitch, hold RELEASE to aim and let go to pitch, SWING (hold for power), and THROW to any base.
  • Pop-ups no longer turn into home runs, and switching sides takes about 3 seconds.
v0.3.1

Closer to the action

  • The field camera now stays close: it follows the ball to the fielder, then the throw to the base, so players are big enough to read on a phone.
  • Close plays at a base fill the screen, so you can time your slide.
  • The PERFECT / GOOD timing word sits up top, out of the way of the play.
v0.3.0

Watch the play

  • When you hit the ball fair, the camera follows the ball and the fielder going after it, then shows the throw and the runner heading for the base.
  • Throws now fly across the field on a low arc with a trail, and double plays go to second, then first.
  • Throw buttons only show while a fair ball is live; a foul shows none.
  • Nothing you press while paused reaches the game.
  • New Controls settings: a simple or full keyboard layout, and how far above your finger the aim marker sits.
v0.2.0

A full game

  • Play a whole game against the computer: 4 innings, with extra innings until someone wins.
  • The bat circle now has a sweet spot: centre it for the hardest hits; under the ball sends it in the air, over it hits it on the ground.
  • Tap to swing for contact, or press and hold for a power swing.
  • Throw meter: tap a base, then tap again in the green for a perfect throw. Double plays and slides are in.
  • Pitchers tire as the game goes on.
v0.1.2

Portrait framing and swing timing

  • Phones in portrait now see the whole plate and strike zone. The pitcher and the batter both fit on screen, and the stadium scoreboard sits behind the top bar.
  • The catcher fades while you aim and swing, so the strike zone shows through.
  • Swing timing is more forgiving: a press within 90 ms of the ideal moment counts as Good or Perfect, and the cursor snaps to the ball when you are a little off.
  • The Home throw label fits on one line on a 390 px phone. The throw buttons still wrap onto two rows.
  • Early play-test. In landscape the batter touches the corner of the plate, the stadium scoreboard can show behind the top bar, and Next shows only briefly after an at-bat before the game moves on.
