Periodica updates

Every update to Periodica, newest first. Now on v0.4.1, updated Oct 22, 2026.

October 2026

v0.4.1

Painted jar

  • Stellar Forge's jar is hand-painted glass now, matching the rest of the art. Stars still bounce off exactly where the glass is.
  • Each game's level list glows in that element's own colour for the level you're up to.
  • The play area no longer cuts off a sliver at its right and bottom edges.
v0.4.0

Painted art

  • Every puzzle is hand-painted now: new gems, crates and crust in Sodium Splash, glowing stars in Stellar Forge, crystal tiles in Diamond Blast, glassy neon blocks in Neon Jam and chip stacks in Silicon Sort, each on its own painted backdrop.
  • The menus are painted too: game cards, element tiles, buttons, level tiles and the end card.
  • Each element has a little mascot. It waits on the level list, cheers when you clear a level and looks sad when you miss.
  • The pictures load after the game has started, so it opens as fast as before.
v0.3.2

Cleaner end card in Neon Jam

  • Neon Jam's Hint button is free and unlimited, so its end card no longer offers an ad for a hint.
v0.3.1

Easier to tap

  • The Play button and the other buttons are bigger, so they are easier to hit with a thumb, upright or sideways.
  • Level tiles, the game cards sideways, and the volume slider are bigger too. Same games, same look.
v0.3.0

Feels better in your hand

  • The start screen shows all five games with your stars, sideways too, and the element table now fits the screen.
  • Each game's level list has a big Play button that picks up where you left off; Endless is marked with ∞.
  • Endless runs end on your score and your best, with a New best! moment; stars pop in and Atoms count up.
  • Every button presses in when you touch it, and pausing mid-drag no longer leaves a piece stuck to your finger.
  • Stellar Forge: see the piece after next, chains build up with sparks and points, and the jar warns you before it overflows.
  • Sodium Splash: tap a gem then its neighbour to swap, combo pop-ups no longer pile up, and the move count turns amber when you run low.
  • Diamond Blast: the bottom row is easy to reach sideways, bigger pieces in the tray, punchier combos, and you see which pieces did not fit.
  • Neon Jam: no more freezes after a hint, a clear moves-and-par counter, bigger blocks, and Restart can be undone.
  • Silicon Sort: every stack shows its height, merges are quicker, and you can keep placing while they finish.
v0.2.0

Five puzzle hits, rebuilt

  • Every game is now a puzzle you already know, with an element twist.
  • Sodium Splash: swipe-to-match gems with rockets, water bombs and flame orbs; break salt crust and crates in 22 levels.
  • Stellar Forge: a true drop-and-merge jar; fuse hydrogen up the star ladder to iron, two irons go supernova.
  • Diamond Blast: drag pieces onto an 8x8 grid; full rows and columns crush from graphite into diamond.
  • Neon Jam: slide glowing glass blocks out through gates of their own gas colour to light the sign, 20 levels.
  • Silicon Sort: drop hex stacks of silicon wafers; matching colours fly together and ten polish into a chip.
  • Gilt, Fire Line, Pond Pop and Glowtube are retired.
v0.1.0

First playable: five elements

  • New puzzle collection: the periodic table is the menu, and each glowing element is its own game.
  • Hydrogen, Stellar Forge: drop atoms into a star, fuse matching pairs up the ladder to iron, then go supernova.
  • Neon, Glowtube: turn mirrors and move gels to route light and wake a neon sign.
  • Oxygen, Fire Line: close vents, drop CO2 and dig firebreaks to starve a fire before it reaches the cottage.
  • Sodium, Pond Pop: drop and slice sodium pellets so their pops chain across the pond.
  • Gold, Gilt: hammer gold across hex tiles to cover a shape; leaf one flake thin glows green.
  • Every level ends with a real fact about its element.
