What's in it

Early play-test. It is autumn in Duluth, Minnesota, and you have a tired car, a quarter tank and $60. The town is the real one, built from the map: the hills down to Lake Superior, the freeway tunnels, Canal Park and the Lift Bridge, which goes up when a ship comes in.

Read all of it

Jobs pop up on your phone: food, groceries, parcels and rides, paid by the route and more in the busy hours. Later you can haul freight in a semi, drive a city bus on the real routes, take ambulance calls, plow snow for the city or tow fish houses out onto the frozen harbor. The weather turns week by week: rain and fog, then snow by the street, plows and snowbanks, frost on the glass, and northern lights on clear nights. Traffic keeps the rules and gives way to sirens, people cross at the corners, school buses put their arms out, road crews wave you through, and trains come down the lines. After dark there are night sprints against a rival at the wheel, and in winter the club races on the harbor ice. Played from the driver's seat with mirrors and a look-around view. Phones play in portrait or landscape. Flat-color stand-in art for now: painted art is on the way.
